You may have noticed that after 2 1/2 years of offering free domestic shipping to wholesale (and $30 off for international shops), we have changed our wholesale shipping cost set-up.
No matter how much you order, or what size products you purchase, you will only pay $38 for domestic shipping, and international shipping has returned to the actual USPS Priority Mail International cost.
- We did a deep analysis of our actual shipping costs for U.S. wholesale shipments and found that $38 would cover most of our shipping costs.
- The $38 figure we determined is slightly less than our average shipping cost, and is below 10% of the average wholesale order value.
- The advantage for shops is that you can order Knitter's Blocks, Maker's Boards, and other large or heavy products without incurring additional shipping costs.
Another hidden benefit of this set-up is that Cocoknits charges actual USPS shipping rates for direct-to-customers retail orders on our website. This incentivizes customers to purchase from their LYS.
We began the free shipping offer in an effort to ease the strain that the pandemic put on small businesses. Obviously, times are still a bit tough and the costs of manufacturing, shipping, and warehousing continue to rise significantly, so offering free shipping is no longer sustainable for us. We've tried to create the most equitable set-up that will benefit us all.
